Ingredients

Ingredients List For Cajun Shrimp Deviled Eggs Recipe

  • 12 large eggs
  • 1/2 pounds small to medium shrimp
  • 1/4 cup mayonnaise for creaminess
  • 1 tablespoon Dijon mustard
  • 1 teaspoon white vinegar
  • 2 teaspoons Cajun seasoning
  • Paprika to taste
  • Kosher salt to taste
  • Pepper to taste
  • Fresh parsley finely chopped, for garnish

For the Cajun Seasoning

  • 1 tablespoon paprika
  • 2 teaspoons garlic powder
  • 2 teaspoons onion powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground black pepper
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground cayenne pepper
  • 1 teaspoon dried oregano
  • 1 teaspoon dried thyme

  • Boiling

Preparation Steps

  • Mix the paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, black pepper, cayenne pepper, oregano, and thyme. You will need 2 teaspoons of this mixture for the recipe.
  • Place eggs in a pot and cover with water by 1 inch.
  • Bring to a boil, then cover, remove from heat, and let stand for 12 minutes. Transfer to an ice water bath to cool. Peel once cooled.
  • If using uncooked shrimp, give them a quick rinse, and boil for 2-3 minutes or until pink and opaque. Cool in cold water, then peel and devein.
  • Keep one shrimp per egg whole for garnish; chop the rest and set aside.

Cooking/Assembly Steps

  • Make the Yolk Mixture
  • Halve the cooled eggs lengthwise.
  • Remove the yolks and add to a bowl; place the whites on a serving dish.
  • Mash the yolks; mix in mayonnaise, Dijon mustard, 1 teaspoon cajun seasoning, and vinegar.
  • Season with salt and pepper to taste.
  • Fold in the chopped shrimp.
  • Fill the Eggs
  • Spoon or pipe the yolk mixture into the egg whites.
  • Garnish
  • Place the remaining whole shrimp in a bowl.
  • Add the remaining teaspoon of Cajun seasoning.
  • Coat well and place 1 shrimp on each deviled egg.
  • Sprinkle lightly with paprika and garnish with parsley.
