Ingredients

  • 2 tablespoons clarified butter
  • 1.5 pounds ground beef 15-20% fat content minimum
  • 1 tablespoon Dijon mustard
  • 1 tablespoon apple cider vinegar
  • 1 teaspoon smoked paprika
  • 1 teaspoon chili powder
  • 1 teaspoon erythritol
  • ½ cup onion finely chopped
  • ½ cup green bell pepper finely chopped
  • ½ cup tomato paste no sugar added
  • ½ teaspoon garlic powder
  • ½ teaspoon onion powder
  • ½ teaspoon kosher salt
  • ¼ teaspoon black pepper

Instructions

Preparation Steps

  • Chop the onions and bell peppers. Set aside.
  • Measure all the remaining ingredients. Set aside.
  • Place a large, heavy bottomed skillet over medium-high heat.

Cooking Steps

  • Add the clarified butter to the skillet. When the butter starts to shimmer in the pan, carefully add in the ground beef. Allow the ground beef to sit in the pan for a minute or two to allow the heat to return to the pan before breaking it up with the wooden spatula.
  • With the wooden spatula, break up the beef into small pieces. When most of the meat has turned from pink to brown, add the onion and bell pepper. Cook until the vegetables are softened, about 5 minutes.
  • Stir in the remaining ingredients. Mix everything together well. Turn off the heat and let the mixture cool slightly in the pan.
  • Serve hot and top with your favorite ingredients.
