Add the canned tomatoes to the onion mixture.
Smash the tomatoes gently to break them down.
Check the roasting peppers in the oven for charring skin.
Remove the skins, stems and seeds from the peppers.
Add the roasted red peppers and juices to the tomato mixture.
Add in the fresh mascarpone cheese.
Blend slightly before adding the fresh basil leaves.
